Since I was little I love to DRO and I love to create things with my hands. I originally decided to go to medical school in the United States. But my first year of college, I realize my true passion to create things and decide to follow my artistic inclination. Working with a color, working with a fabric and doing things with my hand, they make me happy. My name is MeeAe Oh-Ranck. I'm an assistant professor in fashion department. Fashion is more than just designing, and cutting, and sewing and producing a garment. Fashion is a form of self expression and a language, which tell us stories about the person who wears it. Fashion is a reflection of histories and cultures and Social Affairs. And through fashion, the culture and society can be represented in a unique way. Through innovative and interesting methods fashion department offers flexibility in the fashion curriculum. It has a track systems offering four different tracks; design, track, merchandising track, design and merchandising, combined track, and costume design track.
My favorite things about teaching are interacting with students and watching them develop their scale is very satisfying. And also like to see students discover new techniques and get a sense of pride when they complete their difficult design process. Fashion industry is very competitive. So I set specific goals, and I help them to achieve these goals in order to prepare them for the professional environments. It is my job to help push them to find out their own talents and also to guide them to explore their strength. I think I would recommend students to explore themselves taking courses from different disciplines, like take a history class, maybe a music course, maybe take a business course. You never know if you're not sure what you want to do. With that information, they can make their own decision to develop their future vision. Advice that I gave two of my students is taking advantage of any opportunity that comes up to them. Be respectful and be professional to people. You never know how you will be intertwined with the people in the future.
